At Leongatha Secondary College we are committed to actively assisting our students with career planning and supporting them through this process with vocational guidance, career education and individual counselling.
Careers adviser Ms Diana Mueller is available to assist students in relation to career decision making. Information and advice could relate to job-hunting techniques, resume writing, apprenticeship and traineeship information, tertiary study, scholarships etc. If you would like to make an appointment please email Ms Mueller or call the school on (03) 5622 4333 to arrange a time.
Ms Mueller would be interested to hear from any past students who have a careers story to share on this website. What are you doing now? Email us and let us know. If you wanted to include a picture of you at work, that would be good too.
The aim of the Careers Program at the College is to provide students with current and relevant careers information and support them to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to manage their future pathways. The program values all options including further education (University or TAFE), apprenticeships, traineeships and employment.
To achieve this we offer:

Ready access to careers councellors available to senior students and parents or guardians

A fortnightly Careers Newsletter available by email or hard copy or to view online click here

A well-resourced Careers Centre containing printed literature on courses, career and related issues such as HECS, vocational testing and job research. Students can view career videos or browse the Internet for information.

Managed Individual Pathways, a Government funded program aimed at providing each student with an individual case management approach to career planning.

An introduction to Pathway and Career Development in year 9, including attending a Careers Expo and access to organising a tax file number

A cohesive, coordinated Pathways curriculum at Year 10 level designed to increase students awareness of pathway options, clarify future goals, time management, study options and prepare them thoroughly for VCE or VCAL subject selection and Work Experience.

A structured senior subject counselling process involving, coordinators, students and parents.

Information sessions and individual counselling for Year 12 students regarding post school options (VTAC etc.) and how to access them.
